There’s lots happening in the wine world as the holidays draw to a close and the autumn selling season begins.Hamish Anderson in The Telegraph reviews the new range of Bordeaux at Lidl which has been attracting a lot of attention.

Meanwhile Chapel Down has launched a crowd funding operation to raise a minimum of £1 million, with aspirations for £3.9 m, to invest in new land, wine making, a brewery and distribution facilities in Kent, as reported by Decanter.com

And the wine trade tasting season continues with Wines of The Beautiful South, a two-day event at Olympia which showcases the wines of producers from Argentina, Chile and South Africa. MyWine Daily was there and can vouch for the fantastic range and variety of quality wines from these countries at all prices!

Every now and again a gloomy headline about a fine wine investment company going bust appears. There are a few at the moment that we’ve noticed at MyWineDaily, timely reminders that investors should always be aware of the potential dangers of this kind of activity.

Decanter.com reports that Encarta Fine Wines Ltd. have gone into liquidation owing an estimated £3.5 million after trading for five years. Apparently several other liquidations of wine investment companies are in progress, including that of Canary Wharf Vintners Ltd. Meanwhile Premier Cru Wine Investments Ltd. has also ceased trading, after nearly twenty years, due to a director’s illness, Decanter reports. Arrangements are in hand for customers wines to be transferred to Cult Wines Ltd., but some clients are said to have been informed that their portfolios have stock missing. Cult Wines urged customers to make contact if they had any doubts.
